Rule Change 1st January 2026: Today, the first day of the new year 2026, i.e. Thursday, January 1, many big changes have taken place in the country. Whose effect can be seen in every house and every pocket. These changes include prices ranging from LPG gas cylinders to car prices. Apart from this, major changes have been made in PAN Card, air travel and ITR. Let us know about the new rules and changes-

Commercial LPG cylinder becomes costlier

On January 1, 2026, oil marketing companies have increased the prices of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders across the country. It has become costlier by Rs 111 since the first day of the year. According to the latest update in prices, a 19 kg LPG cylinder which was available for Rs 1580.50 in Delhi is now available for Rs 1691.50, in Kolkata it has become Rs 1795 instead of Rs 1684, in Mumbai it has become Rs 1642.50 instead of Rs 1531.50 and in Chennai it has become Rs 1849.50 instead of Rs 1739.5. However, the prices of 14 kg domestic gas cylinder have not changed.

If you are thinking of buying a new car in the year 2026, you may have to shell out more. From January 1, many leading car companies have decided to increase the prices of their cars. Citing rising input costs and operational expenses, companies have increased the prices of cars.

These PAN cards will become useless

From January 1, 2026, all those PAN cards which were not linked to Aadhaar card will become useless. Due to deactivation of PAN card, one may have to face many financial problems. Apart from this, people will not be able to avail ITR refund, receipt and banking benefits. Due to PAN being deactivated, you will not be able to avail the benefits of many government schemes.

air travel will be cheaper

On January 1, 2026, companies have reduced the prices of aviation fuel or jet fuel i.e. air turbine fuel. Its price in Delhi has been reduced from Rs 99,676.77 to Rs 92,323.02 per kilolitre. Now its price has been reduced to Rs 95,378.02 per kiloliter in Kolkata, Rs 86,352.19 in Mumbai and Rs 95,770 in Chennai. Reduction in the price of air turbine fuel reduces operating costs. In such a situation, airlines can reduce the prices of air tickets.

Big change regarding income tax

The new Income Tax Act 2025 will not be fully implemented from January 1, 2026, but the Central Government will notify the new ITR (tax return) form and rules by January, which will be applicable from April 1, 2026 i.e. financial year 2026-27. Which will replace the old tax law Income Tax Act, 1961. Under the new law, the process and definition of tax year have been changed, ITR form and system will be simplified.
