Russell Wilson doubles down on Sean Payton’s ‘classless’ jab in new interview
The long-simmering feud between Russell Wilson and Sean Payton exploded back into the headlines this week.
On March 3, 2026, Wilson appeared on the “Bussin’ With The Boys” podcast to double down on his viral October 2025 social media post in which he labelled his former coach “classless.”
The tension peaked after a Week 7 game last season when Payton’s Broncos beat the Giants.
After the game, Payton praised rookie Jaxson Dart, who had recently replaced Wilson as the starter, saying, “We were hoping that change would’ve happened long after our game.”
Wilson, feeling the jab, responded on X by writing, “Classless, but not surprised. Didn’t realise you’re still bounty hunting 15+ years later through the media.” This was a direct shot at Payton’s 2012 “Bountygate” suspension.

In his latest comments, Wilson explained he was simply tired of the disrespect. “I got the same amount of rings as you got,” Wilson noted, reminding fans that both men have won one Super Bowl. He added:
“To take a shot, I don’t like. I don’t think it’s necessary. Especially when I’m not even on your team anymore.”
While Payton previously claimed his comments were “strictly about Dart” and not a dig at Wilson, the veteran quarterback is not buying it. Wilson concluded by stating, “I’ve stayed quiet for so long. There’s a time and place where I’m not.”
