Russia attacks energy plants on Christmas, power cuts in Ukraine
Kyiv: Russia launched a major missile and drone attack on Wednesday targeting Ukraine's electricity system. The attack targeted a thermal power plant and forced Ukrainians to take shelter in metro stations on Christmas morning. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a statement on 'X' – Russia used more than 70 missiles, including ballistic missiles, and more than 100 drones to target Ukrainian power sources.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Cybiha said a Russian missile passed through Moldovan and Romanian airspace. Along with this, Zelensky said- Putin deliberately chose Christmas day for the attack. What could be more inhuman than this? Ukraine succeeded in shooting down at least 50 missiles and a large number of drones.

Safety situation will be favorable for electricians.
Ukraine's Energy Minister Herman Halushenko said in a statement on Facebook that Russia had again launched a massive attack on energy infrastructure. Halushenko then said that the distribution system operator has taken measures to minimize consumption to limit the impact of damage to the power system. Electricians will assess the damage as soon as the safety situation becomes favorable. However, Ukraine's largest private power company DTEK said that Russia attacked one of its thermal power plants on Wednesday morning.
This is Russia's 13th attack on Ukraine's electricity grid this year. DTEK Chief Executive Officer Maxim Timchenko said on 'X' – Depriving millions of peaceful people celebrating Christmas of electricity in the harsh winter is a misguided and devilish act, which must be answered. Regional head Oleh Sinihubov said on Telegram that at least seven attacks were targeted at Kharkiv. Due to which fires broke out at many places in the city. According to reports, at least three people have been injured. Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said – Kharkiv is vulnerable to a large-scale missile attack. There were a series of explosions in the city and ballistic missiles are still flying in the direction of the city. (with agency input)
