Russia launches major attack on Kiev as soon as 3-day ceasefire ends, residential building targeted

New Delhi: As soon as the three-day temporary ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine ended, the war has again gained momentum. Russia launched a major drone attack on Ukraine’s capital Kiev, in which a residential building was targeted. According to local officials, on the night of May 12, the Russian army started attacking the capital again.

This attack took place at a time when a temporary ceasefire was implemented for a few days between Russia and Ukraine with the mediation of America. Within hours of the end of the ceasefire, attacks on Kiev started, due to which tension in the region has once again increased.

Drone attack on residential area in Kyiv

According to local media reports, the attack by Russia was carried out through a drone. In this attack, a residential building in the capital was targeted.

Although the exact figure of loss has not been revealed yet, but reports say that this attack was similar to Russia’s earlier strategy, in which Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure have been targeted.

No major airstrike took place during ceasefire

There was no large-scale airstrike between the two countries during the three-day temporary ceasefire. However, the Ukrainian Air Force claimed that Russia launched drones and an Iskander-M ballistic missile was also fired from the occupied Crimean region.

Despite this, the situation remained relatively calm during the ceasefire period.

America can again make a temporary agreement

According to reports, America has once again become active in taking forward the Russia-Ukraine peace talks which have been stalled for several months. According to the information, America is trying to make a temporary ceasefire agreement between the two countries in exchange for relief in some sanctions for Moscow.

Why was there a three-day ceasefire?

The three-day temporary ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine was implemented mainly with the mediation of US President Donald Trump and keeping in mind Russia’s Victory Day celebrations.

This ceasefire remained effective from 9 May to 11 May. During this period, there was also talk of exchange of 1000 prisoners of war between the two countries. The purpose of the ceasefire was to provide military relief to both sides as well as time for diplomatic negotiations.
