The government has clarified that keeping in mind the security of the country’s citizens, the domains of American social media sites have been removed from the country’s National Domain Name System (DNS).
Which social media platforms were banned?
Let us tell you that along with WhatsApp, YouTube and Instagram, the Putin government has completely banned foreign websites like BBC, Deutsche Welle, Radio Free Europe, Radio Liberty and Tor browser. Apart from this, the government has ordered Internet providers to use the ‘National Domain Name System’. This order has been issued under Russia’s ‘Sovereign Internet’ law and instructions have been given to strictly follow it. Let us tell you that in the year 2021, the Russian government had also banned the use of other DNS including Google DNS.
