Russia will keep the data of oil exports to India secret, Kremlin said – there are many people who wish bad.
Moscow: Russia has decided to keep the figures of crude oil supply to India secret. Kremlin (Russian President’s Office) spokesman Dmitry Peskov clarified on Friday that he would not make any information regarding the quantity public because there are “a lot of ill-wishers”.
This statement comes at a time when US Finance Minister Scott Besant has given a temporary exemption of 30 days to Indian refineries to buy Russian oil amid rising tensions in West Asia. This exemption has been issued with the aim of maintaining stability in the global energy market.
Russia’s supply capacity and preparedness
Peskov was questioned over Indian media reports which claimed that Russia was capable of supplying 22 million barrels (22 million barrels) of crude oil to India a week. Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak has also said that his country is fully ready to increase oil supplies to India and China.
The move assumes significance as Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz, through which about 20% of the global oil supply passes. This step was taken in response to the US-Israeli attacks on Iran, which has deepened the global oil crisis.
Impact on global oil market
– The closure of the Strait of Hormuz has severely affected the supply of oil from the Middle East.
– America has given this temporary relief to India, because earlier India had made some trade agreements with America on the condition of not buying oil from Russia.
– Russian oil tankers are already located near Indian waters, and Indian refineries could use them to increase supplies.
