Russian and British spy chiefs speak on phone and we have all the details you need to know!
Russia’s foreign intelligence chief said he recently spoke with the new head of Britain’s spy agency. The call happened a few days ago.
Sergei Naryshkin, who leads Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service, confirmed the conversation on Thursday. He said it was a long phone call. The discussion was with Blaise Metreweli, who has just taken charge of Britain’s Secret Intelligence Service, also known as MI6.
Naryshkin works directly under President Vladimir Putin and oversees Russia’s overseas intelligence operations. He did not share details about what was discussed during the call.
He also pointed out that intelligence ties between the two countries still exist in an official form. Russian intelligence officers are posted in London in an official capacity. In the same way, British intelligence officers continue to work officially in Moscow.
The statement suggests that despite tense relations between Russia and the UK, communication channels between their intelligence agencies remain open.
