Empire State Building Viral Video: A Russian couple’s high-voltage stunt on New York’s famous Empire State Building has become a topic of discussion on social media. In the viral video, 32-year-old Ivan Birkus and 33-year-old Angela Nikolaou are seen at the top of the 1,454-foot (443-meter) tall building. Meanwhile, Evan gets down on his knees and proposes to Angela with a ring, after which both of them kiss each other.

Not only this, the couple also waved a big banner there, on which it was written, “When the power of love beats the love of power, the world knows peace.” i.e “When the power of love overcomes the allure of power, then there is peace in the world.”Both remained on the top of the building for about 10 minutes, after which they came down. The video of this entire incident quickly went viral on social media.

High-voltage proposal at a height of 1454 feet

After the stunt was over, the New York Police took both of them into custody. According to media reports, a case has been registered against the couple under various sections like burglary, entry without permission, endangering the lives of others, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.

New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch also released bodycam footage, in which police officers can be seen arresting the two. A spokesperson for the Empire State Building said that the incident did not pose any threat to the tourists or staff present on the observation deck, but the couple had definitely put their lives at serious risk.

According to the information, Ivan and Angela are originally from Moscow, Russia and currently live in East Orange, New Jersey. It is being told that their stunt was inspired by the 2024 Netflix documentary Skywalkers: A Love Story, which showed the story of a courageous couple climbing tall buildings.

People’s opinion is divided regarding this incident on social media. Some people called it a unique expression of love, while many users termed the incident seen in the viral video as a very dangerous and irresponsible act and demanded strict action as per the law.
