Russian Military Aircraft Crash in Crimea : A Russian military plane crashed in Crimea on Wednesday, April 1. 29 people died in this incident. According to Russian news agency Tass, the wreckage of the An-26 plane was found in Crimea after it lost contact with authorities during a “routine flight”. Military aircraft flying over Crimea lost contact with the Antonov-26 transport aircraft. Later the plane crashed in a mountainous area. This incident is considered another major blow to Russian aviation in the region.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said search and rescue teams later located the crash site. According to information received from the incident site, all 6 crew members and 23 passengers on board the plane died.
TASS said in its report that according to preliminary information, there were no signs of any external attack or damage to the plane. The probable cause of the accident is said to be technical fault. An investigation committee of the Defense Ministry is investigating on the spot.
In recent months Ukrainian drone strikes have repeatedly targeted Russian aircraft grounded at targets such as Kacha, near Sevastopol. Transport aircraft like An-26 have been damaged in these attacks and there have also been reports of casualties among crew and other personnel.
