S. Jaishankar’s swag again in discussion; Foreign Minister wins hearts over Afghan student’s sentiments
News India Live, Digital Desk: Our Foreign Minister Dr. S. We all know Jaishankar’s style. When he comes to speak, the person in front stops speaking, and when he jokes, the whole hall echoes with laughter. Recently, something similar happened at the launch of his book ‘Why Bharat Matters’ in Pune, which has again started praising him on social media. What happened in that event? The thing was that during the program, a round of questions and answers was going on from the audience. An Afghan student stood in the same crowd. Often we see that in the programs of leaders, some people are pre-set who ask questions just to praise. But here the matter turned upside down – or rather, it became so “perfect” that the Minister himself had to give an explanation! That Afghan boy did not ask anything from Jaishankar ji, rather he praised India and Jaishankar ji’s policies. He said that no matter what the world says, the way India has supported Afghanistan and its students is praiseworthy. The words of that boy were so emotional and true that the people sitting in the hall were surprised. Jaishankar’s “witty” style. Now here comes the twist. As soon as the boy finished his words, Dr. Jaishankar smiled. He knew that nowadays people describe everything on social media as ‘stepped’ or ‘planned’. So, before any critic could raise a finger, Jaishankar himself took the mic and said laughingly – “Look, let me tell you all, neither do I know this boy nor has this question been planned in advance (This is not planted).” Hearing this, the entire auditorium echoed with applause and laughter. Why is this incident special? This small incident says a big thing. This shows how deep India’s respect is not only within our country but also in the hearts of the citizens of other countries, especially the youth. That student was not a ‘fare fan’, but a youth who has found hope with India’s help. That one-liner reply of Jaishankar was like a silence to those critics who think that India’s credibility is only on paper. The reality is that when work is done well, praise does not have to be ‘planted’, it comes from the heart automatically. Nowadays, where there is suspicion of adulteration in everything, it is this frank and truthful style of the Foreign Minister that makes him different from other leaders. How did you like his answer?
