SA vs PAK: South Africa got a big shock, powerful player out of ODI series, know the reason

Delhi: South Africa's star spinner Keshav Maharaj has been ruled out of the remaining matches of the ODI series against Pakistan due to a strain in his left arm. He suffered this injury during practice before the opening ODI in Paarl. All-rounder Bjorn Fortin has been included in the team in his place. Maharaj will now return to Durban for rehab. The remaining two matches of the series will be played in Cape Town and Johannesburg on Thursday and Sunday respectively.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter), “Keshav Maharaj has been ruled out of the remaining ODI series against Pakistan due to a left arm strain. “He will return to Durban for rehabilitation and his condition will be re-reviewed before the first Test against Pakistan.”

This injury of Maharaj has included him in the growing list of injured players in the South African team. The team is already without the services of Enrique Norkhia, Gerald Coetzee, Lungi Ngidi, Nandre Berger and Wian Mulder. Recently, Maharaj had performed brilliantly in the match against Sri Lanka in Gakebarha, where he led the team to victory by taking 5 wickets for 76 runs.

The first match of the two-Test series against Pakistan will be played in Centurion from 26 December. South Africa, which is on top of the points table of the ICC World Test Championship, needs one more win to reach the final.
