Shepherd and Holder’s innings proved fruitless
Batting first in this match, West Indies lost 7 wickets for 83 runs. After that, Jason Holder and Romario Shepherd saved the innings. Holder scored 49 off 31 balls, while Shepherd made an unbeaten 52 off 37 balls. Batting at number 9, Shepherd became the first batsman to score a half-century in the T20 World Cup. Had the other batsmen performed well on the Ahmedabad pitch, a bigger score could have been achieved.

South Africa won the match easily
South Africa had no trouble reaching the target of 177 runs. The team won by just one wicket. Openers Adam Markram and Quinton de Kock started with a bang. After eight overs, the team lost their first wicket for 96 runs. De Kock scored 47 off 24 balls, while Markram scored a blistering knock of 82 off 46 balls. Along with Ricky Ponting, he remained unbeaten till the end and led the team to victory. Ryan Rickelton scored 45 off 28 balls in the match.
