Sachin Tendulkar Pays Tribute To R Ashwin

Sachin Tendulkar Pays Tribute To R Ashwin: R Ashwin, one of India’s greatest-ever cricketers and biggest match-winners in test cricket, retired from international cricket on December 18, 2024.

Following the conclusion of the third Test against Australia in Brisbane, Ashwin joined Rohit Sharma in the post-match press conference and announced his retirement from India colors.

“This will be my last day as an Indian cricketer in all formats at the international level,” Ashwin said in an emotional tone.

Ashwin had featured in only one of the three Tests in Australia so far. Rohit Sharma also revealed that Ashwin had decided to quit after being omitted from the Perth Test for youngster Washington Sundar but the skipper convinced him to play in Adelaide. Ravindra Jadeja was picked for the Gabba Test then.

Earlier in the home season, while Ashwin bagged the Man of the Series award against Bangladesh, helping India win 2-0, he had one of the worst series of his career against New Zealand, where he averaged 41 with the ball and India were white-washed 3-0 for the first time at home in Test cricket. That series loss also ended India’s home dominance of 12 years, in which they won all the series on the back of Ashwin’s excellence.
