Sad moment in Sikandar Raza’s family, demise of younger brother Mohammad Mahdi, wave of mourning in the cricket world.

Tezzbuzz Desk- Zimbabwe cricket and the international cricket world have received very sad news from the family of Sikandar Raza. Mohammad Mahdi, younger brother of national T20 team captain Sikandar Raza, died at the age of 13. This heartbreaking incident left not only Zimbabwe but the entire cricket world emotional.

Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) released an official statement confirming the tragic incident. The board said “Zimbabwe Cricket expresses its deepest condolences to national T20 captain Sikandar Raza and his family. His beloved younger brother Mohammed Mahdi passed away untimely at the age of 13 in Harare on 29 December 2025. Mohammed Mahdi suffered from hemophilia since birth and passed away due to recent health complications. He will be interred at Warren Hills Cemetery in Harare on 30 December 2025. The Zimbabwe Cricket Board, management, players and staff stand with Sikandar Raza and his family in this difficult time. May Allah give them patience and peace to the soul of Mohammed Mahdi.

After this personal tragedy, Sikandar Raza reacted on social media. He shared Zimbabwe Cricket’s statement and posted a broken heart emoji, which expressed his deep pain even more than words.

Sikandar Raza is currently going through a very busy and important phase of his career. Recently, he was seen playing for Sharjah Warriors in ILT20 2025, where he scored 171 runs in 10 matches and took 10 wickets, which further increased his credibility as an all-rounder.

Despite the personal grief, the eyes of the cricket world are now on Sikandar Raza’s next big mission, T20 World Cup 2026. Raza will captain the Zimbabwe team in this tournament starting in February. His role will be very important for the team, but the grief of losing his brother can prove to be a big blow to him emotionally.
