SAFF Women’s Championship: India won the title for the sixth time by defeating Bangladesh, Grace Dangmei retired

Tezzbuzz Desk- Once again great news has come for Indian fans from the football field. In the final of the SAFF Women’s Championship 2026 played on Saturday in Margao, Goa, the Indian women’s team defeated Bangladesh 3-1 and won the title for a record sixth time.

With this victory, India has once again proved its dominance in South Asian football. In the final match, the Indian team played aggressively from the beginning. The first goal was scored by Pyari Jaja in the 42nd minute. Immediately after this, in the 46th minute, Sanfida strengthened the lead. The third and decisive goal was scored by Linda Kom in the 82nd minute to ensure India’s victory.

For Bangladesh, Ritu Porna scored the only goal in the injury time of the first half, but she could not save the team from defeat.

Sanfida was given the “Most Valuable Player (MVP)” award for her outstanding performance in the tournament, while Aveka Singh was awarded for scoring the highest number of 4 goals.

With this historic victory, Indian team’s veteran player Grace Dangmei said goodbye to her international career. After debuting in 2013, he played 93 matches for India and scored 24 goals. He also won 3 SAFF titles in his career.
