Gorakhpur Bureau Office (Uttar Pradesh)

Sahjanwan Gorakhpur. The Uttar Pradesh government is spending lakhs of rupees on the development of villages and is trying to equip the general public with basic amenities by building a Haat market equipped with facilities, while due to the indifferent attitude of the local officials, some people are spoiling the government schemes by setting up a market on their land and adjacent to it, the head of such a village has complained to the Chief Minister and requested to operate the Haat market.

The controversy has deepened regarding the government hot-pat market built in the revenue village Belora-Chaura of Gram Panchayat Mohidinpur of Sahjanwa tehsil area. The village head has sent a letter to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath alleging that some people are creating obstacles in the operation of the government hot-pat market, due to which the income of the panchayat is being affected and questions are being raised on the government system.

According to Pradhan, the Haat-Pat market was constructed in Belora-Chaura by the Mandi Committee at a cost of lakhs of rupees. It was inaugurated by regional MLA Pradeep Shukla. After the inauguration, operation of vegetable and other retail shops started here, but later the operation of the market got affected.
It has been alleged in the complaint that Shriprakash Singh and Chandraprakash Singh of the village are preventing the market from being set up in the government hot-pat premises and are running the market on their private land. Due to this, not only the purpose of government hot-pats is being affected, but the revenue received by the Gram Panchayat is also decreasing.
The village head has said in the letter sent to the Chief Minister that the matter has been complained about at many levels in the past. The application was also given to Sub-District Magistrate Sahjanwa on 28 January 2025, Divisional Commissioner Gorakhpur on 10 February 2025 and District Magistrate Gorakhpur on 3 March 2025. Despite this, it has been alleged that no concrete action has been taken till now.

Pradhan says that the hot-pat market built with government money is losing its usefulness due to lack of use, while the potential income to the Panchayat is also being continuously affected. Documents related to previous investigation and correspondence have also been attached with the complaint.

The village head has demanded the Chief Minister to conduct an impartial investigation into the matter and take legal action against the culprits and ensure regular functioning of the government hot-pat market. Here, the matter remains a topic of discussion in the area and villagers are waiting for administrative intervention.

This matter is not only related to the utilization of government property, but also to the effectiveness of Panchayat revenue and government schemes. Now it remains to be seen what action the administration takes on this dispute.
