Sai Sudarshan beats RCB, Chris Gayle’s great record destroyed
After a bad start in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Sai Sudarshan has scored a century. Sudarshan played an excellent inning of 100 runs in 58 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Friday (April 24). Sudarshan has destroyed Chris Gayle’s great record during this innings. Sudarshan has now become the fastest batsman to score 2000 runs in IPL history. Gayle had reached this milestone in 48 innings. Sudarshan has achieved this feat in his 47th innings itself.
Sudarshan needed 72 runs to break Gayle’s record. He destroyed Krunal Pandya’s record by hitting a six on the last ball of the 9th over. Sudarshan then continued his innings with ease and completed his third IPL century in 57 balls. However, after this he could not stay at the crease for long and became the victim of Hazlewood.

GT gave target of 206 runs to RCB
Sudarshan’s wicket fell on the third ball of the 16th over. At this time the score of Gujarat Titans (GT) was 160 runs at the loss of 2 wickets. She was looking to cross 220 but GT’s batsmen could not hit any boundaries in the 17th, 18th and 19th overs. At one time it seemed that this team would not even be able to reach 200. However, Jason Holder hit two sixes and a four in the last over against Krunal Pandya and took him to 205 runs. Holder returned unbeaten after scoring 23 runs in 10 balls. Washington Sundar scored unbeaten 19 runs in 12 balls.

Earlier, captain Shubhman Gill and Sai Sudarshan made an opening partnership of 128 runs. Gill returned to the pavilion after scoring 32 runs in 24 balls. Jos Buttler contributed 25 runs in 16 balls. GT was in a very strong position with Butler and Sudarshan at the crease but as soon as the pair broke, they were left behind by at least 20 runs. Now it remains to be seen whether its bowlers are able to defend 205 runs or not.
