Saif Ali Khan transferred from ICU, recovering well

According to the doctors at the hospital, Saif Ali Khan was transferred from the ICU and is reportedly recovering well. The actor, who is still under treatment, was attacked with a knife six times around 2:30 am on Thursday night at his apartment in Bandra West. A 2.5-inch piece of the blade was removed from his body after a five-hour surgery.

Addressing a media briefing, Dr. Nitin Narayan Dange of Leelavati Hospital said that Saif Ali Khan was doing very well. Doctors had asked him to take a walk and he did, without any pain. They also mentioned that the actor has been shifted from the ICU to a special room, but because of his deep spinal injuries, visitor access will be restricted for a week to prevent any infection. His medical team confirmed there is no risk of a stroke.

According to Leelavati Hospital’s Chief Operating Officer, Neeraj Atmani, Saif Ali Khan entered the hospital “like a lion.” He also mentioned the actor didn’t need a stretcher. The actor was covered in blood as he walked into the hospital. Atmani mentioned that Saif was lucky and would have been in an extremely critical condition if the knife had penetrated 2 millimeters inside.

He was with his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan and the two children Jeh and Taimur at his 12-storey apartment in the attack that took place there. Jeh’s nurse, Elyama Philip, and another member of the staff were also reportedly injured.

Elyama Philip, who had been living with the Khan family for four years, was questioned by police. She claimed to have first seen the attacker when he entered the apartment on the 11th floor. According to her, after putting Jeh to sleep, she woke up due to noise around 2 a.m. She believed the noise came from Kareena checking on their son. However, she realized later that something was wrong when she saw a man come out of the bathroom and enter Jeh’s room.

Philip quickly rushed to Jeh’s room, where the attacker put his finger to her mouth and told her not to make any noise. When she tried to grab Jeh, the attacker, armed with a wooden stick and knife, lunged at her. She tried to block the attack but got injured on her wrists and left middle finger. Philip then asked the attacker what he wanted, and he replied that he wanted money, specifically one crore rupees.

Hearing Philip’s scream, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan rushed out of their room. Saif confronted the attacker, who then tried to attack him. However, Saif managed to escape, and they all fled to the upper floor of the house. The attacker managed to escape, and the police have formed 20 teams to capture him. The escape was recorded by CCTV cameras in the building.
