Who doesn’t know Salman Khan’s work and his filmography? He has been giving back-to-back hits with movies Dabangg, Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger, Sultan. But do you know there was a time when most of his movies flopped? 2004, 2005 and 2006 had films like Pride: Pride & Honour, I will marry you, We will meet you again, As my heart told me, Lucky: No time for love, Why did you get married and then you found my friend, Salaam-e-Ishqetc. that didn’t work. Salman Khan was going through a rough patch in his career, with one flop film after another. The continuous box office failures led to massive losses for filmmakers, amounting to crores of rupees.

In 2007, Salman Khan picked a script where he portrayed Love Guru. The movie is Partner that also featured Govinda, Katrina Kaif, and Lara Dutta. Directed by David Dhawan, the movie was a critical and commercial blockbuster. Made on a budget of around 28 crore, it collected Rs 100.91 crore (US$12 million) worldwide and was the fourth highest-grossing Hindi film of 2007. This movie proved to be Salman Khan’s lifeline in Bollywood. Not just the movie, 18,00,000 units of soundtrack album were also sold.

In Partner, it was the chemistry between Salman and Govinda which carried the film through. The movie left the audience gasping for breath. It was musical, stylish, funny and more. Despite being an official remake of Will Smith starrer hit comedy Hitchit was adapted to suit the palate of the Indian audience.
