New Delhi. Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s much awaited film ‘Battle of Galwan’ will now be released with the name ‘Mathrubhoomi: May War Rest in Peace’. The film’s director Apoorva Lakhia has shared the reason behind changing the name of the film.
Director Lakhia said that the decision to change the name was not taken suddenly. Both the names ‘Battle of Galwan’ and ‘Mathrubhoomi’ were registered right from the beginning of the film. As the making of the film progressed, he realized that this story was not just about war, but also about humanity, sympathy and the everyday untold sacrifices of soldiers. According to Lakhia, the new name better represents the soul of the film and the sacrifice of the soldiers.
The new poster of the film has also increased the excitement among the fans. In the poster, Salman Khan is seen in an intense look, there is an injury mark on his forehead and his hands are stained with blood, which clearly shows that tremendous action will be seen in the film. The director said the film’s objective is to preserve humanity amid conflict, and the new title and poster clearly reflect this message.
There is still suspense regarding the release. The film was currently scheduled to release on April 17, 2026, but according to reports, it is likely to be postponed to August. If this happens, then there may be a clash between Salman Khan’s ‘Mathrubhoomi’ and Sunny Deol’s Lahore 1947 at the box office.
