Salman Khan’s ‘Battle of Galwan’ Retitled ‘Maatrubhumi’
The announcement came from Salman Khan Films along with a new poster that emphasises the film’s central message of peace.
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film draws inspiration from the Galwan Valley clash of 2020 but aims to explore broader emotional and philosophical dimensions of war rather than presenting a direct historical retelling.
The new title, Maatrubhumireflects the makers’ intent to highlight the value of peace while acknowledging the sacrifices made during conflict. Industry insiders suggest that the film seeks to balance patriotic themes with a universal appeal, making it more than just a war drama.
Currently, Maatrubhumi is scheduled for release on April 17, 2026. However, reports indicate that the date may shift to mid-August, potentially setting up a box-office clash with Sunny Deol’s Lahore 1947which is slated for August 13 around Independence Day weekend.
Salman Khan’s project has already generated significant buzz, with the retitling seen as a strategic move to broaden its narrative scope and avoid controversy. The film promises to deliver a powerful cinematic experience that blends action, emotion, and reflection on the human cost of war.
