Sam Konstas makes a stunning revelation about his on-field controversy with Virat Kohli
The debutant for Australia shares that the ’emotions’ held sway over himself as well as India’s best Kohli, as the two were said to have lost themselves in an intense exchange on the inaugural day of the Boxing Day Test at Melbourne on Thursday.
The fourth Test saw Kohli shoulder barging Konstas in the first hour of play at which the latter took umbridge, evoking a meandering distraction by Usman Khawaja and the on-field umpire to ease the tension.
I think the emotions got to both of us,” Konstas added on Channel 7. “I didn’t even really notice it. I was busy with my gloves, and the little shoulder barge comes; but it happens in cricket.”
Match referee Andy Pycroft is likely going to review the incident.
According to ICC Code of Conduct, “all forms of inappropriate physical contact were prohibited in cricket. Without limitation, players would breach this regulation by, deliberately, recklessly and/or-negligently running into or shouldering another player or umpire.”.
In his consideration, if it is a Level 1 offense, the offending individual will likely face a financial fine. However, Level-2 offenses attract three to four demerit points and end up with one Test suspension.
