On the final day in the 5th BGT Test, Bumrah was going to bowl the final delivery of the day. Recalling the incident, the 19-year old said that it was probably his fault for Khawaja losing his wicket.
“Oh, I didn’t get too fazed. Unfortunately, Uzi got out. He was trying to buy some time a little bit. It was probably my fault, but it happens. It’s cricket.”
Konstas also praised Bumrah for his brilliant delivery that ended up taking Khawaja’s wicket.
“Credit to Bumrah. He got the wicket, but obviously, great performance from the team.”
Konstas was also a part of a feud that involved Virat Kohli. The Indian superstar was seen giving the Australian a shoulder shove, which led to the former getting fined 20% of the match fee.
Konstas, who got his Test debut for the Kangaroos on the 4th Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, explained how he felt during that time.
“No, I was very calm. I was talking to my parents and all my teammates. But obviously, it was a packed stadium and Uzi (Khawaja) said my adrenaline was pumped when I was batting, but I didn’t feel that. Still, it was a good debut, and I’m glad to get two wins.”
Australia won the series 3-1 after winning the second, fourth, and fifth Tests. While India took the first Test, the third Test had ended in a draw.
