Sam Konstas's shot which shocked Bumrah, how it happened, watch video
New Delhi: Australia's young batsman Sam Constance performed brilliantly in his debut match on the first day of the Boxing Day Test against India. Constance took Australia to 112 for 1 at lunch with a quick half-century. Despite a slow start to his innings, he also played aggressively to Jasprit Bumrah and hit a full length ball brilliantly and sent him out of the ground. This shot was played on Bumrah's ball and is rarely seen like this.
Hit both the sixes on Bumrah's balls.
19-year-old Constas scored 60 runs in 65 balls, which included 6 fours and 2 sixes. Both the sixes came off Bumrah's balls, which shocked the cricket fans. Consts scored 16 runs in Bumrah's fourth over by hitting two fours and a six, which was Bumrah's first six in Test cricket after almost four years. Constance used both traditional and reverse ramp shots in his batting against Bumrah. He became the first batsman to hit a six against Bumrah in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, while most of the Australian batsmen were struggling to cope with the pressure from Bumrah.
Ravindra Jadeja out
However, Ravindra Jadeja ended Kontas' innings by LBW in the 20th over. There was a brilliant partnership of 89 runs between Constance and Usman Khawaja (38 runs). Constas finished his innings with two sixes and six fours. Till lunch, apart from Akash Deep (0/15 in 6 overs), Indian fast bowlers Mohammad Siraj mostly bowled full or very short balls, which were not effective.
