In Ghosi by-election, Sapane played a big bet on Sujit Singh, son of late MLA Sudhakar Singh, declared his candidate.
Lucknow. Samajwadi Party has taken a big step regarding the upcoming by-election of Ghosi assembly seat of Mau district of UP. SP has declared Sudhakar Singh’s son Sujeet Singh as its candidate. This seat had become vacant after the death of Sudhakar Singh and now the party has fielded Sujit to bring his family forward politically. SP MLA Shivpal Singh Yadav formally announced the name of Sujit Singh.

Suspense regarding BJP candidate
After SP’s announcement, there are now speculations about who BJP will field from this seat. In the last by-election, BJP had fielded Dara Singh as its candidate, but he had to face defeat. At present there has been no official announcement from BJP. There is also discussion in political circles that Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (Subhashpa) can try its strength in this by-election.
By-election will be held within six months
Ghosi Assembly seat has recently been declared vacant by the Assembly Secretariat. According to the rules, it is mandatory to hold by-elections within six months of the seat becoming vacant due to death of an MLA or other reasons. In this context, it is expected that the by-election for Ghosi seat will be held by April 2026.

Sudhakar Singh passed away
Sudhakar Singh died due to illness on 20 November. After his death, all the concerned departments including the Governor, Chief Minister, Assembly Member, District Magistrate and Chief Electoral Officer were informed about the vacancy. After this the process of by-election has been started.
By-election on Ghosi seat important for political parties
The by-election to be held on Ghosi seat is considered important for political parties. SP has strengthened the field by making Sujit Singh its candidate, while political turmoil is increasing regarding the candidates of BJP and SubhaSP. In the upcoming elections, it will be interesting to see which party is able to gain the support of the people of Ghosi.
