Samantha Ruth Prabhu reveals she backed out of 'Citadel: Honey Bunny' due to myositis
Mumbai Mumbai. Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who was recently seen in the espionage thriller series Citadel: Honey Bunny opposite Varun Dhawan, revealed that she had decided to opt out of the show due to her autoimmune condition, myositis. In 2022, Samantha made public her diagnosis of myositis, after which she took a break from work. “I didn't need convincing, but my health conditions prevented me from doing it… I didn't think I can do that because it's a serious situation. But, they (Raj and DK) didn't take 'no' for an answer, and I'm glad they didn't,” Samantha told India Today.
Furthermore, Samantha shared her excitement at being a part of an action genre, where she played a similar character in an industry that is largely male-dominated across the world. The actress said that because of the series, she felt like a hero. She was able to take and withstand punches equally well, which saved the day. She said, “We are looking forward and that's important. Having said that, there is a huge difference in the number of roles I have been offered and the number of projects I am doing, just because I have deliberately shifted away from flower pot roles. Have decided to stay away.”
When asked if she would like to stick to just the action genre, Samantha said that she is up for challenges and Citadel is one challenge that really inspired her. She admitted that the action genre is generally considered to be the playground of male actors, but she enjoyed the experience of acting in it. Citadel: Honey Bunny also stars Kay Kay Menon, Saqib Saleem, Sikander Kher and Soham Majumdar. Are. It is a spin-off of the American television series Citadel, starring Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden.
