Samsung Galaxy A16 5G launched in India with six years of Android updates

Delhi Delhi: Samsung launched a new mid-budget smartphone in India today. The new Samsung Galaxy A16 5G is the successor to the Galaxy A15 5G that arrived in India earlier this year and joins the company's A-series devices, which also includes the Samsung Galaxy A35 5G, Galaxy A55 5G, and the Samsung Galaxy A06. Some of the key features of the Galaxy A16 6G are six years of operating updates and fast charging support. The Samsung Galaxy A16 5G competes with some smartphones like OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite and Redmi 13 Pro.

Samsung Galaxy A16 5G comes in two variants in India. The base variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage space is priced at Rs 18,999, while the top variant of the device with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage space is priced at Rs 20,999. Interested buyers can choose from Light Green, Gold and Blue Black color variants. It will be available for purchase in India from today via Samsung's official website, Amazon India, Flipkart and retail outlets.

Talking about the specifications and features, the Samsung Galaxy A16 5G sports a 6.9-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 90Hz and a resolution of 1080 x 2340. The phone is protected with IP54 dust and water resistant coating, which protects it from water splashes.

The Samsung Galaxy A16 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 system-on-chip (SoC), paired with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage space. This space can be expanded with a microSD card up to 1TB. This smartphone runs on Android 14-based One UI 6.0. As mentioned earlier, Samsung has promised six years of OS updates, which means the Galaxy A16 5G will get OS updates until 2030. Additionally, the Samsung Galaxy 16 5G sports a triple rear camera setup on the back, which includes a 50MP primary sensor, a 2MP macro sensor, and a 5MP ultra-wide-angle lens. On the front, it sports a 13MP front-facing camera. It has a 5,000mAh battery with super-fast charging technology.
