Samsung will launch a new Galaxy device on October 21

Delhi Delhi. Samsung has announced that it is holding an event to launch a new Galaxy device on October 21st. Although the company hasn't revealed which device it will be, rumors point towards the highly-anticipated Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition – an upgraded version of Samsung's latest foldable flagship that arrived in August. Previous reports have suggested that the next Galaxy Z Fold 6 model will have a redesigned camera island and a more premium and textured back.

Well-known tipster Evan Blass had previously posted official renders of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition. The phone uses a gold rose frame with a textured finish, similar to the crafted black version of the Galaxy Z Fold 6. The camera island is rectangular instead of the pill-shaped design used in current foldables. While it's not obvious from looking at the image, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition will use an improved hinge for a less visible crease on the display. Reports also say that the cameras will use better sensors and algorithms for better photography, but details are unclear.

In terms of specifications, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition may feature an 8-inch main display, while the regular model has a 7.6-inch panel. The external display will also expand to 6.5 inches, compared to 6.3 inches on the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Samsung may also equip the next Galaxy Z Fold smartphone with better hardware, but it may still use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. The sequel Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 could come to next year's foldables.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition was initially rumored to be in the works in January. However, some industry insiders later said that Samsung may have scrapped the project. Then, a few days ago, a post showing the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition listed on a South Korean retailer started circulating the internet, hinting at its launch – which has now been confirmed by Samsung. Rumors also suggest that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition will be exclusive to Korea, but Samsung may plan to launch it in international markets later as the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra.
