Samsung Will Pay Rs 5000 Special Incentives To Striking Workers In Chennai; Signs MoA For The Demands

A group of workers and Samsung India reached a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to address their grievances and end a walkout that started on September 9, 2024.

The corporation promised to raise wages and address welfare issues by enhancing the working environment and cooperating with a workmen’s committee.

Samsung India Signs MoA With Workers; Introduces Incentives

From October 2024 to March 2025, a unique temporary incentive called the Productivity Stabilization Incentive, valued at Rs 5,000 per month, will be offered; payment specifics will be determined after consulting with the committee.

The salary discussions for 2025–2026 will take this unique incentive into account, taking yearly wage increases into account. The company’s MOA states, “This special incentive shall be considered with the annual increment in wages for the year 2025-26, that will be finalised in consultation with workmen committee during the wage negotiations.” It has also been signed by signed by Samsung India Electronics Managing Director Yoon Sung-hyun.

By the following year, Samsung has committed to extend air-conditioned bus services from the existing five lines to all 108 routes.

Every family that participates will receive a gift worth Rs 2,000, and the frequency of family invitation events will grow from four to six times a year.

Employees To Get Paternity Leaves, Marriage Leaves

If an employee passes away while they are working for Samsung, the family will receive Rs 1 lakh right away, “In the unfortunate event of the death of an employee while in service, the Company shall provide an additional immediate assistance of Rs 1 lakh to the family to take care of their immediate needs.”

In the compressor building, Samsung plans to renovate the cafeteria menus, meal allowances, break areas, lavatories, and outdated lockers in addition to opening a new medical room.

In cooperation with the workmen committee, the corporation plans to create canopies between buildings, increase the amount of vacation days accessible to employees, and improve overall vacation policy.

When a child is born, employees will receive a gift card worth Rs 2,000, and three days of paid leave will be implemented for marriages, “Paternity leave for the birth of the first and second child will be increased from three to five days. Further changes in the number of vacations will be done in consultation with the workmen committee.”

Additionally, the first and second kid will each be allotted five days of paternity leave, up from the current three days.
