Sangeeta Bijlani Steals the Spotlight at Lakme Fashion Week 2024 in a Mesmerizing Assamese Ensemble

Sangeeta Bijlani, former supermodel, and bollywood actress at 64 fifteen years ago was demonstrating that age is just a number during the Lakme Fashion Week of 2024. Dressed in a beautifully hand crafted ‘mekhela chador by Assamease designer Sanjukta Dutta, Bijlani easily overshadowed models, who were half her age. Everyone was fascinated by her beautiful looking face she was looking stunningly beautiful younger than her age could possibly imagine.

Appearing on the ramp, Bijlani put up the glamour glimpse from the best years which actually made her the globally acclaimed supermodel; she added confidence to the outfit that she wore. The pair of red mekhela chador, which is an Assamese sari, put up the best Assam weaves, with the ‘Muga Silk’ and ‘Paat’. It was a perfect mix of tradition with today’s fashion which is always seen in Sanjukta Dutta creations.

The prolific designer Dutta who has taken Assamese textiles to the world can leave the audience spell bound with her new creations in her new fashion line “Hepaah. The Desire.” This greatly focused on capturing the essence of the craftsmanship that is associated with Assamese weavers and the refinement of the fabrics that represent the state. Barely visible in the glamour world, Bijlani wore one of Dutta’s finest creation and thus showcased the finer texture and new age application of usage of jute in dealing with fashion.

While performing the ramp show, Sangeeta Bijlani demonstrated how fashion knows no boundary and how one can blend the traditional with the contemporary.
