Ujjwal Nikam told that when Abu Salem, associated with the underworld, had brought a truck full of weapons, Sanjay Dutt had kept some weapons with himself and returned the rest.

Nikam says that if Sanjay Dutt had informed the police at that time, the investigating agencies could have reached the entire network. Due to this, the conspiracy behind the bomb blasts could have been revealed in time, many lives could have been saved and the accused could have been arrested earlier. He said that this was always the thing that hurt him the most.

Ujjwal Nikam also told that despite the court proceedings and punishment, there was never any personal enmity between him and Sanjay Dutt.

He said that after his release from jail, Sanjay Dutt met him several times and always treated him with respect. According to Nikam, he does not have any personal dispute with any accused and he only fulfills his responsibilities within the ambit of law.
