Sanjay gives confirmation about Indian captain’s status for BGT
Rohit Sharma was not among the team who went to tour Australia last week, and there are doubts regarding his availability for the first test in Perth. Before leaving for Australia, India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir did not give any confirmation about the unavailability of Rohit Sharma, but hinted about him featuring in the series-opener. But these chances are now slowly deteriorating.
While having a conversation with Star Sports, Sanjay Manjrekar gave confirmation about the unavailability of Rohit Sharma and stated that he will not play the first Test.
“Rohit Sharma will not be there in the first. For him, it will be a bit of a break (from scrutiny). Because of his absence, the team will be a bit more lighterManjrekar said.
Rohit Sharma and his wife got blessed with a baby boy on November 15 and the fans had been waiting for an update regarding his availability, but Sanjay has not confirmed his unavailability.
Jasprit Bumrah is going to lead Indian team in Rohit’s absence. He has been a part of the leadership group since 2022, along with making his captaincy debut in the one-off Test against England.
