Sanjeev Goenka clashed with Rishabh Pant on the field? Enraged Lalit Modi made big demand from BCCI

News India Live, Digital Desk:With the exciting start of IPL 2026, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjeev Goenka has once again come into the center of controversy. After the defeat to Delhi Capitals in their very first match of the tournament, Sanjiv Goenka was seen on the field chatting with his team’s new captain Rishabh Pant and the support staff. This scene immediately brought back bitter memories of IPL 2024 in the minds of cricket fans, when Goenka had publicly reprimanded the then captain KL Rahul. After that incident, Rahul broke his ties with the franchise. Now there is an uproar in the cricket world amid speculations about a similar incident being repeated with Rishabh Pant. Is Goenka repeating the history of KL Rahul? There is a lot of resentment among sports pundits regarding such direct interference of the team owners immediately after the end of the match on the field. Former England captain Michael Vaughan has expressed his disappointment over this entire incident. Commenting in strong words on social media, he wrote that only one match of the tournament has taken place, so there was no need for such behavior on the field. Fans are also criticizing Goenka fiercely on this incident on social media. Lalit Modi got angry and said, ‘If I had been there, I would have snatched the team’. The most sharp and aggressive reaction in this entire controversy has come from former IPL chairman Lalit Modi. Responding to Michael Vaughan’s post, Lalit Modi expressed his anger against Sanjiv Goenka. Modi described Goenka as an “arrogant joker” and a “loser” and said he was deeply embarrassed by such behaviour. He wrote in a harsh tone that if he had been the chairman and commissioner of IPL even today, he would have immediately banned Goenka and taken away the ownership rights of the team from him forever. While demanding strict action from BCCI, Modi reminded that there is a strict clause against such behavior in the franchise agreement, which should be used. Seeing the growing controversy, LSG presented clarification, released the original video. Sensing the strong statement of Lalit Modi and the growing anger of the fans, Lucknow Super Giants management had to come forward for damage control. The franchise has shared the complete video of the conversation that took place on the field from its official social media account, in which a different side of the story is visible. In this video, there is no tension of any kind between Sanjeev Goenka, Rishabh Pant and the support staff, but laughter and joking. While clarifying with this video, LSG wrote that whatever is visible is not the whole truth. The franchise has described these as real and ‘unfiltered’ pictures after the match.
