Delhi: In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 Mini Auction, 5-time winner Chennai Super Kings (CSK) included Indian batsman Sarfaraz Khan in their team. CSK bought him at the base price of Rs 75 lakh. Sarfaraz’s reaction after the auction was very emotional.

Sarfaraz expressed gratitude to CSK

Sarfaraz Khan thanked CSK on social media. He said that this team has given new life to his career. While sharing a video, Sarfaraz wrote that he is grateful for this opportunity.

Just a few hours before the auction, Sarfaraz had played a brilliant innings in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He had scored 73 runs in 22 balls. Although, he remained unsold in the initial phase, but eventually CSK included him in their team.

Sarfaraz last played for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023. This year in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he has scored 256 runs in six innings. Both his average and strike rate have been excellent.

CSK bet on uncapped players

In this auction, CSK also bought uncapped players Karthik Sharma and Prashant Veer for Rs 14.20 crore. Both became the most expensive uncapped players in IPL history. Apart from this, the team included West Indies all-rounder Akil Hussain for Rs 2 crore.

CSK also included Matt Henry and Rahul Chahar in the team in this auction. Earlier, the team had added Sanju Samson in a big trade for Rs 18 crore. Whereas, Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran were taken by Rajasthan Royals. The command of the team will remain with Ruturaj Gaikwad in future also.
