Sarke Chunar Teri Controversy: Huge uproar over Nora Fatehi’s new song! Muslim organizations issued fatwa, Women Commission summoned Sanjay Dutt and Nora

Aligarh/New Delhi. Bollywood’s dancing queen Nora Fatehi and veteran actor Sanjay Dutt’s recently released song ‘Sarke Chunar Teri’ is stuck in a whirlpool of controversies. While on one hand religious organizations have come out calling the lyrics and dance steps of the song as ‘obscene’, on the other hand the National Commission for Women (NCW) has also taken a tough stance. The controversy has increased so much that Aligarh’s Muslim Personal Darul Ifta has even issued a fatwa against Nora Fatehi. After being surrounded from all sides, the makers have removed this item number from YouTube, but the legal noose is still tightening. Darul Ifta’s fatwa: ‘Haram and harmful for the society’ Maulana Chaudhary Efrahim Hussain of Aligarh has said that the content of the song is against moral values. Shahi Chief Mufti said in clear words that being a part of such obscene content is ‘haram’ and it is taking the youth in the wrong direction. He has appealed to the public to boycott this song. The organizations argue that playing with culture and decorum in the name of entertainment will not be tolerated. Women’s Commission’s notice: Order to appear on March 24. Taking cognizance of the ‘sexual innuendo’ and objectionable material present in the song, the National Women’s Commission has sent a notice to the entire team including Nora Fatehi, Sanjay Dutt, lyricist Raqib Alam, and director Kiran Kumar. The Commission has summoned all the accused to appear in person on March 24 at 12:30 pm. A warning has been given that if they do not appear at the appointed time, strict legal action will be taken against them. The complaint reached the Human Rights Commission and the Cyber Cell. The controversy is not limited to the Women’s Commission only. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has also expressed strong objection to this. Meanwhile, social activist and advocate Vineet Jindal has lodged a complaint with the Cyber Cell of Delhi Police demanding that such ‘double meaning’ songs on digital platforms be immediately banned. They allege that this song is unsuitable for the mental health of children and the general public. Nora Fatehi’s clarification: ‘I was kept in the dark’ After facing criticism from all sides, Nora Fatehi has presented her side by releasing a video on social media. Nora claims that this song was shot three years ago for the Kannada version and she was not fully aware of the controversial lyrics of the Hindi version. He has accused the makers of cheating and making objectionable posters through AI (Artificial Intelligence). Nora said, “I knew it would look a little different, but I had no idea it would be so ugly. I am thankful to the fans for their criticism.” This controversy of morality versus freedom of expression in the entertainment world has once again sparked the debate between ‘creative freedom’ and ‘social responsibility’ in Bollywood. While one section is considering it as freedom of expression, social organizations say that no one can be given the freedom to serve obscenity in the name of art. At present, the writer of the song has also shied away saying that it was just a direct translation of the Kannada lyrics.
