Satluj Controversy: ZEE5’s entry in ‘Satluj’ leak controversy, after Diljit Dosanjh’s sharing statement, makers made this special appeal with folded hands
The ongoing controversy regarding famous Punjabi actor Diljit Dosanjh’s controversial film ‘Sutlej’ has now reached a new turn. After the film was removed just two days after its release on OTT platform ZEE5 and it was leaked on social media, now ZEE5 itself has broken its silence on it. On one hand, lead actor Diljit Dosanjh has appealed to the fans to make the downloaded copies reach as many people as possible, while on the other hand, ZEE5 has issued an official statement requesting the viewers with folded hands not to encourage piracy. ZEE5 released official poster, said- ‘Do not support piracy’ After pirated versions and download links of ‘Sutlej’ went viral on social media platforms, ZEE5 released an official statement and poster on Monday, July 6. Sharing the post on its social media accounts, the OTT platform wrote, "We have full hope and are trying our best. Please do not encourage piracy. We are fully committed to exploring every possible avenue to return ‘Sutlej’ back to you legally." The platform has appealed to the viewers to contribute in their efforts to bring back the film and not to forward illegal files. Diljit Dosanjh said – ‘Now it is impossible to delete anything from the internet’ Contrary to this appeal of ZEE5, the film’s lead actor Diljit Dosanjh seems extremely satisfied and relieved that the film has finally reached the public. Diljit said in a statement, "I feel very relieved now that this film has finally reached the audience. Now this is the people’s film and it cannot be stopped in any way. People who think that once something is online, it can be completely deleted from the internet, they are either very innocent or not aware of technology."
Actor advocates sharing of downloaded copies Diljit Dosanjh encouraged all the fans who had downloaded the film before it was removed from OTT, to share it among themselves. He said, "Once something is online, it is immortalized forever. I saw a video from Rajasthan where people are watching this film, which made me very happy. My appeal is that you must show it to your friends and everyone around you." According to Diljit, this version released on Zee5 was without any cut version, which the audience should watch under any circumstances. 4 years of long censorship and the journey of ‘Punjab 95’ Directed by Honey Trehan, the film is inspired by the life of famous human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra and the events that took place in Punjab in the 1990s. Initially this film was named ‘Punjab ’95’. The film remained on hold for almost four years due to a long legal battle with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) over certification and cuts. Made under the banner of RSVP and MacGuffin Pictures, the film stars Arjun Rampal, Kanwaljeet Singh, Suvinder Vicky and Geetika Vidya Ohlyan in lead roles along with Diljit Dosanjh.
