Saudi Arabia and UAE lost patience and sent back thousands of Pakistani beggars, embarrassing Pakistan all over the world.
News India Live, Digital Desk: Pakistan is always in the news for its declining economy, but this time the matter has crossed the limits of ’embarrassment’. You will be surprised to hear that people from Pakistan are not going to work or travel abroad, but are going to ‘begging’. The situation has become such that even friendly countries like Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates (UAE) have now given up. According to the latest reports, these countries have arrested thousands of Pakistani beggars and sent them back to their country. ‘Business’ under the guise of religious travel. The most shocking thing is how do these people reach there? Reports suggest that most of these people go with Umrah Visa or Visit Visa. Meaning, they show the world that they are going on pilgrimage, but after reaching the holy cities like Mecca and Medina, they start begging. Saudi Arabian officials have warned the Pakistan government in clear words to stop such people. He says that begging of Pakistani citizens outside the mosques is spoiling the order and dignity of their country. Thousands were returned from the airport. Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has now come into action. Recently news came that hundreds of people who were suspected of being beggars were ‘offloaded’ from several flights. During interrogation, these people confessed that they were going to go to Saudi Arabia or UAE to earn money by begging and were going to give a big part of it to the agents who sent them there. The consequences of these actions of some people are being borne by those Pakistani citizens who really want to go there for hard work or worship. Gulf countries have now started making the visa rules for Pakistanis more stringent. The UAE has even imposed an unannounced ban on granting visas to Pakistanis in many categories. The jails are filled! The situation there is such that more than 90% of the beggars lodged in the jails of Iraq and Saudi Arabia are said to be Pakistanis. This figure has itself become a matter of international embarrassment for Pakistan. It is worth thinking that the situation in a country has become so bad that the people there are forced to put their honor at stake and stand with the ‘bowl’ in foreign countries. Now it remains to be seen what steps the Pakistan government takes to stop this export.
