Saudi Arabia’s big decision, Iranian diplomats ordered to leave the country

New Delhi. Tension seems to be increasing once again in the Middle East. Taking a tough stance, Saudi Arabia has ordered many Iranian diplomats to leave the country. This decision has been taken at a time when military activities and mutual allegations and counter-accusations are increasing rapidly in the region.

What is the whole matter?

Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry announced that some Iranian diplomatic officials have been declared persona non grata. This means that they will no longer be allowed to stay in the country and will have to leave Saudi Arabia within 24 hours. Under this decision, Iran’s military attache, assistant attache and other embassy staff have been expelled with immediate effect.

Saudi allegation

Saudi Arabia has made serious allegations against Iran. According to the ministry, Iran is continuously taking such steps which are threatening regional peace and stability.

Saudi says that:The country’s sovereignty is being challenged, vital infrastructure and economic interests are being targeted, and the security of diplomatic institutions is under threat. Saudi has described these activities as against international rules and principles of good neighborliness.

Warning also issued

Saudi Arabia has clarified that if such activities continue, more stringent measures may be taken in the future. The government had warned earlier also, but now by taking this step an attempt has been made to send a strong message.

This decision has come at a time when major military developments have taken place in the region recently. The situation worsened after the US and Israel attacked targets linked to Iran in late February. In response, Iran also launched missile and drone attacks at many places, including military bases located in several countries in the Gulf region.

Iran’s silence on Saudi action

Till now, there has been no official response from Iran on this entire matter. However, after this step the tension between the two countries is expected to increase further.
