Echo of ‘Run for drug-free Bihar’ in Patna, 10 thousand people ran; Foreign runners also showed their strength
Bihar News: SBI Patna Marathon 2026, organized under the joint aegis of Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department, Government of Bihar and State Bank of India, was successfully organized on 15 March 2026 at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna. More than 10,000 participants took part in this marathon organized on the theme “Run for Drug-free Bihar” and gave strong support to the resolve of a drug-free and healthy Bihar.
Thousands of people ran with the message of de-addiction
The objective of the marathon was to make Bihar drug free, to increase awareness among people about drug addiction and to ensure public participation to build a healthy society. The program started with an energetic Zumba session, which infused enthusiasm and energy among all the participants.
Many prominent personalities showed their presence
On this occasion, Education Minister Sunil Kumar, international badminton player P.V. Sindhu, Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit, Secretary of Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department Ajay Yadav, Commissioner Excise-cum-Inspector General Anshul Aggarwal, Chief General Manager of SBI Patna Circle Anurag Joshi, General Manager Network-South Bihar Ravindra Kumar Srivastava, General Manager Network-North Bihar R. Natarajan and General Manager Network-Jharkhand Vivek Chandra Jaiswal and other distinguished guests flagged off the marathon.
Route from Gandhi Maidan to Atal Path
The marathon started at 3:30 am from Gate No. 01 of Gandhi Maidan. The fixed route was started from Gandhi Maidan till JP Ganga Path and Atal Path. Taking a U-turn from Atal Path, the participants returned via the same route to Gate No. 01 of Gandhi Maidan, where the race ended at the finishing line. The races of different categories were started by showing the green flag at scheduled intervals.
Security and medical arrangements
For the successful conduct of the marathon, the administration had made extensive arrangements for security, crowd management, traffic management and law and order. Magistrates, police officers and police forces were deployed on the entire route. Temporary medical camps, specialist doctors and cardiologists were arranged for the safety of the participants. Ambulances and doctors were deployed at the 10.5 kilometer point, while two ambulances remained in constant motion along the entire route. Apart from this, emergency medical services, operation theaters and trauma centers were also kept ready in PMCH, NMCH, Indira Gandhi Institute of Heart Diseases and Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences.

Role in making the event successful
Officers and employees of Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department and State Bank of India played active participation in making Patna Marathon 2026 successful. Through this event, Bihar government gave the message of building a drug-free society and also inspired people to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
