Scary earthquake late night: 3.6 intensity, people ran out of their homes, is there any damage?

There was a sudden earthquake in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh last night i.e. on Friday, which created panic among the people. According to the report of the National Center for Seismology (NCS), its intensity was measured at 3.6 on the Richter scale. The earthquake occurred at a depth of only 10 kilometers underground, due to which tremors were felt three to four times. NCS said that these tremors occurred at exactly 11.36 pm. The good news is that till now there has been no news of any loss of life or property due to this.

People who felt these tremors immediately came out of their homes and reached safe places. But since the intensity was low, most people could not feel these tremors. Chamba district is very sensitive from earthquake point of view and it falls in Zone 5, which means such tremors keep coming here again and again. The surprising thing is that just 14 days ago there was an earthquake here after 12 o’clock in the night, which is increasing the concern of the people.

How does an earthquake occur? understand in simple language

The earth’s surface is mainly made up of 7 big and many small tectonic plates. These plates always float slowly and sometimes collide with each other. The collision causes the edges of the plates to bend, and when the pressure becomes too much, these plates begin to break. During this time, the energy released from below finds its way outside, and this disturbance takes the form of an earthquake. In such situations, shocks are felt and sometimes huge losses are also incurred.
