This winter holidays have brought a big gift for lakhs of children studying in government and private schools. While releasing the educational calendar, the Education Department has made it clear that all schools will remain closed from 25 December 2025 to 5 January 2026.
This means children are going to get long winter holidays this time. According to the calendar released by Secondary Education Director Sitaram Jat, schools will run for a total of 21 days in the month of December. Before December 25, only Sunday is a holiday in this month, there is no additional public holiday.
Winter increased, holidays also increased
The Education Department has decided to extend the period of winter holidays for the second consecutive year. Usually these holidays used to last till 31st December, but like last year, this time too they have been extended till 5th January. Officials say that this decision has been taken in view of the continuously increasing cold. In previous years, due to extreme cold, district collectors had to declare holidays in different districts. To avoid this problem and ensure the safety of children, the holidays have been extended in the calendar itself.
Schools will be vibrant again after the holidays
Schools will reopen on 6 January 2026 after the long winter holidays. While the children will pick up the pace of their studies again, the teachers will start giving final shape to their board exam preparation plans.
