Now you will not be able to use mobile in schools and colleges, this state is bringing strict law

College Campus Phone Ban News: Seeing the innocence of childhood confined to the smartphone screen and the dangerous addiction of social media, the Siddaramaiah government of Karnataka has prepared to take a big decision. The state government is considering a law to impose a complete ban on the use of mobile phones in school and college premises for students below 16 years of age.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah held a high-level meeting with the Vice Chancellors of government universities in this regard and sought concrete suggestions from them. He has expressed deep concern about the ill effects of mobile phones on the behavior, education and mental health of students.

Children’s future going into darkness

In the meeting, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah clearly said that children are getting so attracted towards social media that their future is going into darkness. The most frightening revelation was that some students are coming in contact with drug smugglers and becoming victims of cyber crimes through mobile phones. The government believes that it has now become mandatory to take strict legal steps to stop this digital addiction.

Where are the restrictions?

Siddaramaiah government is studying international models for this law.

Condition of the world: The Chief Minister himself cited the example of Australia, which has recently imposed strict restrictions on social media for children and mobile phones in schools. Apart from this, phones are completely banned in primary and secondary schools in France since 2018. China has also set a time limit for students’ mobile use.

India’s situation: In India, the Delhi government had issued an advisory last year directing to ban the use of mobile phones in classrooms. At the same time, Kerala has been a state in India which had banned the use of mobile phones in schools long ago. However, later in the era of online education, the rules were relaxed.

Awaiting the report of Vice Chancellors

The Karnataka government is now waiting for the report of the Vice-Chancellors. The government’s aim is not just to impose restrictions but to create an environment where students can focus on their education and mental health instead of becoming slaves to technology. If this law is implemented, Karnataka will set an example in South India regarding the balance of technology and education.
