School Holiday: Winter vacation in Rajasthan schools from December 25 to January 5

New Delhi: The Rajasthan government has declared school winter vacation in the state between December 25 to January 5, 2025. Considering the extreme cold weather conditions that might increase, the government has decided to close the schools on the specified dates.

Rajasthan education minister, Madan Dilawar made the announcement about the Rajasthan winter vacation school close on X (formerly Twitter). The posts reads, ‘According to the warning issued by the Meteorological Department of Rajasthan state, there is a possibility of a significant increase in the intensity of cold wave in the state from December 24. Keeping this situation in mind, the Education Department of the State Government has decided according to the Academic Almanac that this year’s winter vacation will be from December 25 to January 5’.

In the month of November, schools in some of the districts in the state were closed and online classes were conducted because of air pollution.

Last year, the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) announced winter vacation for schools from December 25.

Winter school holiday in other states

The winter vacation schedule for 2024 varies across states in India. In Delhi and Haryana, schools will remain closed from January 1 to January 15, while Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan school have their holidays scheduled from December 25 to January 5. The schools in Punjab schools will be between December 24 to 31, with Bihar following the same timeline as per sources.

Schools in Jammu and Kashmir have an extended winter vacation, with classes up to 5th standard closing from December 10 to February 28, and Class 6 to Class 12 from December 16 to February 28. These state-wise breaks cater to regional climatic conditions and provide students with a break.
