New Delhi. Generally, whenever we take the name of any fruit, pictures of many such fruits emerge in our mind whose seeds are hidden inside the fruit, but there are some fruits which challenge this natural rule.

According to botanical information, cashew and strawberry are unique fruits whose seeds are located on the outside. Strawberry is not a fruit but a group of fruits. The surprising thing about this fruit is that what we eat as a fruit is technically an aggregate fruit. On an average, a strawberry has a shell of about 200 small seeds on its outer surface. In scientific language, these external small grains are called ‘acin’. In fact, each of its grains is a small fruit in itself, inside which the real seed is hidden. Based on botanical rules, strawberry is not a berry because its seeds are not inside like a berry.
If we talk about cashew, then this fruit is called ‘Cashew Apple’. The ‘real treasure’ hanging below the fruit is the cashew fruit, which is amazing in its texture. Its true seed (kernel) hangs outside and is shaped like a kidney. Cashew is the only dry fruit that grows from the outside of the fruit while other nuts develop inside the fruit. Experts believe that this unique structure of these fruits helps in seed dispersal, so that birds and animals can spread them easily.
