Scooter Sales: 60% jump in EV two-wheeler sales in April 2026, TVS number-1 company

Scooter Sales: The demand for electric two-wheelers is increasing rapidly in India and the sales figures for April 2026 present a clear picture of this. A total of 1,48,740 electric two-wheelers were sold across the country in April 2026, while in April 2025 this figure was 92,538 units. This means that on an annual basis (YoY), a spectacular increase of 60.73% has been recorded in EV two-wheeler sales. However, a decline of 22.15% was seen in sales in April as compared to March 2026, which is considered to be the normal situation of the market after the end of the financial year.

EV share increased in the market
Now the share of electric vehicles in the total two-wheeler market has reached 7.8%, whereas in April last year it was 5.5%. This shows that customers are increasingly moving from petrol vehicles to electric mobility.

TVS Motor became number-1
TVS Motor Company took the first position by selling 37,683 units in April 2026. TVS recorded a year-on-year growth of 88.64% and gained 25.33% market share due to strong demand for the company’s popular TVS iQube.

Strong performance of Bajaj and Ather
Bajaj Auto sold 32,898 units of its Bajaj Chetak and stood at the second position. Whereas Ather Energy achieved a growth of more than 102% with sales of 27,034 units.

Hero VIDA’s quantum leap
Hero MotoCorp’s VIDA brand recorded an annual growth of nearly 148% by selling 15,238 units, which was among the fastest growth in the market.

Ola Electric’s challenge

  • Ola Electric sales declined by 38.60% compared to April 2025 and the company sold 12,171 units. However, Ola recorded a monthly growth of 20% compared to March 2026.
  • Experts believe that due to the increasing charging network, petrol prices and new affordable models, the electric two-wheeler market in India will grow rapidly in the future.
