Screening of film The Kerala Story-2 canceled, organizers had to return money to ticket holders

New Delhi. The screening of the film The Kerala Story-2 was canceled in Kannur on Saturday following protests by Democratic Youth Federation of India workers. Posters of the film were torn and burnt outside the theater in protest. During this, there were clashes between the two sides and the organizers had to return the money to the ticket holders. The protest began when activists led by DYFI Thrissur district committee secretary KS Rasal Raj marched to the Thrissur Fun Movies theater and poured coal on the posters of the film The Kerala Story 2 as a symbolic protest.

The march was part of a larger campaign by the organization against the film, which is based on the lives of three young girls. According to the film, three young women are fraudulently married and allegedly forcibly converted. The screening was canceled due to lack of audience due to the protest. The theater management started refunding the money and confirmed that there would be no live screenings inside the mall. Similar cancellations have been reported at Cinepolis in the Mall of Travancore in Thiruvananthapuram, where rescheduled screenings were put on hold due to the protests. Let us tell you that the Kerala High Court on Friday had lifted the previous stay on the release of The Kerala Story-2, due to which the screening could resume in theaters. The stay, which was initially imposed by Single Bench Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas, was for 15 days. This stay was lifted by the division bench of Justices SA Dharmadhikari and PV Balakrishnan. The bench also directed the Central Board of Film Certification to re-examine the film.
