For this one seat, a gathering of senior MVA leaders was held at Sharad Pawar’s residence ‘Silver Oak’, in which Supriya Sule and Sanjay Raut also participated.

1. Meeting of Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray (The Strategy)

Message of solidarity: The main objective of this meeting was to ensure that the opposition vote is not divided. The alliance leaders have decided that they will field a common candidate against the BJP.

Role of Supriya Sule: According to reports, Supriya Sule is playing an important role in making strategy in this meeting and establishing coordination with Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT).

2. Potential Candidates

There are three major names in the race for this one seat from MVA:

Sharad Pawar: There is talk that Sharad Pawar himself may go to Rajya Sabha once again so that the voice of the opposition can be strengthened in Delhi politics.

Sanjay Raut: The tenure of senior Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut is also ending. If Uddhav Thackeray insists, he may get a chance again.

Anil Deshmukh/Abhishek Manu Singhvi: There is also a discussion going on between Congress and Sharad Pawar faction on fielding a legal expert or Dalit/OBC face.

3. The Numbers Game
