Secret of student’s death revealed after 5 months, he died due to contaminated food, FIR lodged against hostel superintendent

The mystery of the death of 14-year-old student Rajkumar Dhurve, which happened five months ago in the tribal hostel located at Kundam in the district, has been solved. After a lengthy investigation, it was revealed that the student died not from any disease but from eating substandard and contaminated food brought by the hostel superintendent. In this case, Kundam police station has registered an FIR against the accused hostel superintendent Gajendra Jharia and started investigation.

The incident took place on August 21, when Rajkumar Dhurve, a class 9 student at Harduli tribal hostel in Kundam, died after his health deteriorated. This incident created a stir in the entire area.

Shocking revelation made in investigation

Considering the seriousness of the matter, the police conducted post-mortem of the student’s body and sent Bisra to the Regional Forensic Lab (RFSL) of Jabalpur for investigation. After several months of investigation and detailed reports from doctors, the RFSL clarified that the cause of Rajkumar’s death was contaminated food. Investigation also revealed that on August 20, a total of 13 students, including the deceased student, had eaten food cooked in the hostel, after which everyone’s health deteriorated.

The superintendent himself used to bring substandard food items.

Police investigation revealed that hostel superintendent Gajendra Jharia was often absent from his duty and was negligent in maintaining the hostel. He himself used to buy low quality wheat, flour, rice and pulses and put pressure on the employees to get them made for the students. After the incident, the Food Department team also took samples of food items from the hostel, the report of which found them to be of low quality.

FIR registered, search for accused continues

On the basis of all the evidence and investigation reports, Kundam Police has registered a case against Superintendent Gajendra Jharia, holding him responsible for the death of the student. The accused is said to be absconding at present and the police has started searching for him. This incident has raised serious questions on the quality and arrangement of food provided to students in tribal hostels.
