Under the campaign, emphasis will be laid on strengthening financial security along with connecting lakhs of eligible farmers across the state with insurance and pension schemes.
Special social security campaign will start from July 6
The Uttar Pradesh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is going to take an important initiative towards the social and economic empowerment of sugarcane farmers. A special social security awareness and enrollment campaign will be organized across the state from July 6 to July 11, 2026. The objective of this campaign is to connect more and more sugarcane farmer families with the social security schemes of the Central Government and protect them from future economic risks.
During the campaign, farmers will be given information about various public welfare schemes including Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Atal Pension Yojana (APY). The government believes that by joining these schemes, farmers and their families will get financial assistance and security in situations like accidents, sudden death and old age.
Sugarcane committees will play an important role
In this campaign, all the cooperative sugarcane development committees of the state have been given major responsibility. The committees will work to provide information about the schemes to the farmers, identify eligible beneficiaries and enroll them. These institutions, which have been associated with farmers for years, will now also be used for effective implementation of social security schemes.
The objective of the government is that farmer committees should not be limited to sugarcane development only, but should also play an important role in the field of social security and financial awareness. With this, the benefits of the schemes will reach more and more eligible families.
All facilities will be available at one place
During the mega campaign, special assistance and enrollment centers will be established in every Cooperative Sugarcane Development Committee premises. Representatives of banks, IFFCO, sugar mills and other supporting organizations will be present at these centres. Farmers will be provided facilities like information about schemes, eligibility check, verification of documents, banking assistance and immediate enrollment here.
Apart from this, farmers will also be helped in opening new bank accounts, member registration and other necessary formalities, so that they do not have to visit different offices.
Special focus will be on women farmers and rural families
The government has also laid special emphasis on increasing the participation of women farmers in this campaign. Efforts will be made to connect rural women with insurance, pension and social security schemes through self-help groups. This will increase the economic participation of women and also strengthen the financial security of families.
To take the campaign to every village, sugarcane supervisors, committee secretaries and departmental officers will directly contact the farmers. Information about the schemes will be given through village meetings, farmer seminars and public awareness programs. Apart from this, farmers will also be made aware about the farmer friendly schemes run by Sugarcane Development Department, IFFCO and sugar mills.
The government’s aim is that more and more eligible sugarcane farmer families should take advantage of these schemes and become financially secure and self-reliant. This campaign is being considered an important step towards increasing the scope of social security in rural areas and the overall welfare of farmers.
