Fierce encounter between security forces and terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, nine terrorists killed

Peshawar: Pakistani security forces have killed nine terrorists, including two suicide bombers and a senior terrorist, during an operation in the country's restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Pakistani Army gave this information on Thursday. According to the media wing of the army, based on intelligence information, this operation was carried out in Bajaur district of the province late on Wednesday night.

In a fierce encounter, law enforcement agency personnel killed nine terrorists. The media wing said in a statement that the killed terrorists included two suicide bombers and the leader of a major terrorist group. It said the slain terrorists were involved in several attacks against security forces and civilians.

1534 deaths have been recorded

Security forces have recovered a large quantity of arms, ammunition and explosives from the terrorists. However, the operation is continuing to eliminate other terrorists in the area. According to the third quarter report released by the Islamabad-based think tank 'Centre for Research and Security Studies' (CRSS), in just three quarters of this year, 1534 deaths have been recorded compared to last year's total of 1523 deaths.

A total of 722 people including security personnel and criminals were killed

A total of 722 people, including civilians, security personnel and criminals, were killed in 328 incidents recorded during the third quarter. While 615 others were injured. The report said that Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces have borne the brunt of terrorist attacks the most. (agency)
